A Lovely Irish Claddagh 9ct Gold Brooch With Garnet. It comes with a rolled gold safety chain.
The pin is not one of the old type that ‘flaps about in the wind” it closes rather like a nice modern safety pin.
The Claddagh is an ancient Gaelic symbol which is now a universal symbol of lasting love, eternal friendship, and loyalty. It was first designed around 400 years ago in a small village near Galway, Ireland. The Claddagh symbol shows a crown above two hands clasping a heart in the middle.
The hallmark is 375 for 9ct Gold. No year mark is showing but made most likely during the 1980’s or 90’s. Between 1975 and 1998 anyway from the type of hallmark it has.
The garnet has been tested as genuine.
Length is 3.5cm (1.38inch). Weight: 2.5 grams
A really lovely brooch!
We have to take photographs close up so we can show detail, which can make items look much larger than they are so please do view the video to get an idea of size.
