Victorian Sterling Silver Thimble

£26.00

**UK Delivery Only**

A charming late Victorian sterling silver thimble, believed to date to around 1886 and bearing Birmingham hallmarks.

This lovely little antique features a beautifully engraved band of floral and foliate decoration, with the traditional dimpled surface above, designed to help guide a sewing needle through fabric.

The thimble bears a Birmingham hallmark, although the date letter is quite worn. It appears to indicate 1886, while the maker’s mark resembles that of James Fenton, a Birmingham silversmith. Both attributions are tentative owing to the wear on the marks.

The number 12 is also stamped on the thimble, indicating its size.
