A striking and richly detailed Victorian Silver Austro-Hungarian style cross pendant. Beautifully set with deep red garnets, turquoise cabochons and a lustrous central pearl.
This wonderfully decorative antique cross has all the character associated with late 19th-century Austro-Hungarian jewellery, with its elaborate openwork construction, colourful gemstone setting and ornate floral-inspired mounts.
The pendant and chain are not hallmarked (quite usual in those days) but have both been acid tested and test positively as a good grade silver.
The combination of vivid turquoise blue, rich wine-red garnets and the central pearl gives the piece a wonderfully romantic and unmistakably antique appearance.
The **red stones have been tested with a Presidium Gem Tester II and confirmed as garnets**. Numerous turquoise cabochons are arranged throughout the cross, surrounding the garnets and central pearl and creating a wonderfully colourful effect.

As is often found with genuine antique turquoise, the stones display attractive natural variations in shade, ranging from bright blue to softer blue-green tones.
The cross retains a lovely aged patina which adds greatly to its period character. The elaborate metalwork includes scrolling and foliate details, raised floral settings and openwork decoration, giving the pendant considerable depth and visual interest.
It is suspended from an exceptionally long antique chain measuring approximately **29 inches (74cm)**, allowing the cross to be worn as a dramatic long necklace or displayed as a wonderful statement piece.
The chain is so long that it simply lifts over the head.
Considering its considerable age, the pendant remains in lovely antique condition. There is expected age-related wear, patination and variation to the stones, all of which are part of the charm and history of a genuine antique piece.
