Here we have a beautiful early 20th century silver filigree locket, believed to date from around the 1920s–1930s. Wonderfully delicate and full of period character, it features intricate open filigree work together with a rich deep-red glass stone.
The oval locket is finely crafted in silver, with an elaborate radiating filigree design extending across both sides. The front is particularly striking, centred by a deep red faceted stone which appears to be glass or a similar material, and finished with an elegant scrolling motif beneath. The reverse is equally attractive, decorated with an applied four-petal flower detail.
Opening on a side hinge, the locket reveals further delicate filigree work to the interior. One side is fitted with a removable transparent panel, allowing a small photograph, miniature portrait or treasured keepsake to be placed safely inside. The panel simply lifts out when required.
