Art Deco Silver & Gold/Light Brown coloured enamelled compact.
Hallmarked for Turner & Simpson, Birmingham 1939. It has no engravings.
Engine turned decoration with no loss to the enamel. Lid opens and shuts as it should.
Turner & Simpson garnered a reputation for crafting exquisite silverware, vanities, cigarette cases, snuff boxes, clocks, and curios.
Despite being situated in the bustling industrial hub of Birmingham’s jewellery quarter, their premises exuded a quaint charm akin to that of a spacious cottage from the outside. Characterised by a tiled roof, black-framed windows, and white exterior walls, it resembled a dwelling.
The only clue to it’s true function being the sign TURNER & SIMPSON LTD boldly emblazoned in stylish black letters on the front wall.
Established in 1912, the company was a distinguished presence in its field.
