A beautiful c1880s – 1890s Victorian locket with delicately engraving on both sides..
It is unmarked, not uncommon for the era, and we believe it “may” be silver ‘back and front’ meaning sheets of silver mounted on a base metal frame.
It has a large sturdy bale and would look lovely worn on anything from a chunky silver chain to a velvet ribbon.
Height including bale: 5.1cm (2inch) Width: 2.9cm (1.15inch). Weight: 8.6grams.
The antique box in the photos is just for presentation and does not form part of this sale.
We give our items a good wipe over but not a “back to new” clean. Many of our buyers prefer it this way which is why we do it.
The reason being that it takes just minutes to clean 100 years or more of patina off when you receive the item should you wish but another 100 years or more to put it back on again if you prefer it that way. A long wait.
