Antique Sterling Silver Thistle Button Hook – Birmingham 1901

£59.00

A rather lovely little antique sterling silver button hook, dating from 1901 and featuring an unusually attractive thistle-head design.

The beautifully detailed thistle makes this a particularly appealing example of these once-essential little accessories. There is also a small suspension ring, suggesting it could have been carried on a chatelaine, keeping it conveniently to hand.
Button hooks were widely used during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, particularly for fastening the rows of tiny buttons on fashionable boots and shoes.
