Period engraved monograms remain within the decoration, something we particularly like on antique table silver. Rather than detracting from the pieces, they are part of their history — a small reminder that these were once treasured possessions used at an Edwardian dining table more than a century ago.
The Birmingham hallmarks remain visible amongst the engraving and date the pair precisely to 1911.
With a combined weight of approximately 34 grams, they have a pleasing feel in the hand and remain entirely practical pieces of antique silver. They would make an attractive addition to a collection of English silver, but we rather like the idea of them continuing to be used for the purpose for which they were originally made.
They would also make a particularly appealing wedding, anniversary or special-occasion gift.
There are minor signs of age and use commensurate with pieces dating from 1911, but these simply add to their authentic antique character. Please see the photographs for the condition and fine engraved detail.
